9 Greatest Platform Games You’ve Never Played

6. Bug!

System: Sega Saturn

While Super Mario 64 is the true pioneer of 3D platforming, Bug! was a standout launch title for the Sega Saturn that they system needed to get off the ground. Platforming mascots sold consoles before FPS games did, and without a Sonic title (Although there is a level in which you race Sonic) Bug! entered the fray. The game€™s level design was much more linear than that of Super Mario 3D; but this did not hinder the enjoyability of the game as developer Realtime Associates created a cool, unique character and an environment to support it.

In the game, Bug! is a Hollywood star and the game is the movie he has been cast it. It makes for great transitions between levels as each one was a different "scene" of the movie. And in perfect platforming fashion, your goal was to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend from an evil queen. The Saturn version of the game scored very well with journalists, but a PC version that was released a year later did not have the same good fortune.
