9 Hugely-Anticipated Video Games Still To Come In 2018

3. Soulcalibur VI

Tomb Raider
Bandai Namco

The king of weapon-based brawlers is making its triumphant return this year, following a six-year hiatus, but don't take those Roman Numerals literally. The sixth main instalment it may be, but Project Soul is commemorating the franchise's celebrated history by returning to a time when the war between two primal opposing forces, the Soul Edge & Calibur, was in its infancy.

Beyond obvious ramifications of the setting - a clean slate and soft reboot, of sorts - it means Project Soul is free to bring back fan favourite characters that either died or went AWOL over the years.

Already, Sophitia and Kilik are confirmed to be returning, alongside a raft of other familiar and new faces, all of which will be playing by the new rules set out by Project Soul.

Reversal Edge - essentially a parry mechanic - is one new battle tactic confirmed, but expect more mechanics to compliment staples such as ring outs and guard breaks as the marketing machine inches closer to launch.

Best of all? Geralt of Rivia is filling the guest slot this time around, and we can all agree that the Witcher star is a much better fit than bloody Yoda.
