9 Hugely-Anticipated Video Games Still To Come In 2018
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
Arriving later than expected, as is the Rockstar way, Red Dead Redemption 2 is slotted in for launch just prior to the year's spookiest holiday, guaranteed to leave a crater-sized hole in the gaming calendar that no right-minded publisher will want to touch with a bargepole.
Already, Activision has opted to release its latest iteration of Call of Duty far earlier than the usual November date and who can blame it? Rockstar's genuine Midas touch ensures RDR2's success, it's merely a matter of how many tens of millions of copies it sells before the year is out.
Thanks to the latest round of drip-fed teasers, we now know the narrative premise, setting and the name of John Marston's successor as the protagonist, but in gameplay terms? The original's Honor system is returning and open-world structured gameplay is obviously par for the course, but what about multiplayer?
Given the absurd success of GTA Online, Rockstar will want to replicate that with its Old West counterpart and, if rumours hold true, it's looking ever more likely that a battle royale mode is on the cards, too.
Expect a wealth of new info to spill forth at E3.
