9 Image Changes That Totally Killed Your Favourite Video Game Characters

1. Spyro The Dragon (Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure)

Spyro The Dragon
Insomniac

Spyro the... Skylanders accessory, is how you have to address the little purple childhood memory-maker.

Sadly, after three fantastic originals, Insomniac pulled a Naughty Dog and sold off Spyro to Activision, prompting a litany of unnecessary sequels and one complete reboot in 2006, that saw Spyro voiced by Elijah Wood, actually advancing in age to become a teenage dragon.

Even that still had some pull, though. No, what really killed the little guy was being repurposed by way of 'mass market research' into the abomination you see on the right; a weird, goblin-esque, "This'll make your mum's face scrunch up, kids!" attempt at targeting the nebulous 'youth' demographic.

Zero charm and zero purpose, other than the minuscule amount of people who'll snap up any Spyro-related property through nostalgia alone. At this stage, the only hope is that, again like Crash, Activision recruit a studio to give Spyro the full-on HD remaster treatment.
