9 Most Discussed Video Game Plot Holes That Will Never Be Answered
2. Mass Effect 3's Backwards Final Choice
There's a lot that's been said about the ending of Mass Effect 3, but it's biggest plot hole was that the final 'good' or 'bad' choice went against the rules the game had previously established.
Throughout the whole trilogy, blue choices signified the good Paragon decisions while red choices were indicators of evil Renegade options. To support this good/evil dynamic the game builds Captain Anderson up as essentially Commander Shepard's Obi-Wan, a wise military veteran who leads him towards the noble choices in the series. On the other hand the Illusive Man acts as the devil on Shepard's shoulder, luring the player over to the dark side.
The third game throws these ideas out the window in its final moments, instead using Anderson to represent the 'bad' red choice of destroying the Reapers, while linking the Illusive Man to the 'good' blue path of controlling them.
It only added to the confusion of the scene, and made gamers wonder whether the choice was actually real or just part of the Reaper's indoctrination.
