To think that there was a time when playing SimCity wasn't tainted with the sickening feeling that you were witnessing the downfall of one of the most influential game series of all time. Aside from being instantly endearing for framing '2000' as some kind of distant future date (even though it was only six years away at the time of release), SimCity 2K remains one of the best city-builders around. The isometric graphics ooze nostalgia, and may be easier for today's gamer to get immersed in than the top-down abstract grid that is the original SimCity.
