9 Polarising Levels That Almost Ruined Great Games

8. Blighttown - Dark Souls

Thanks to the Souls series cultivating one of the most diehard and unforgiving fanbases out there, absolutely anything - glitch, bug or otherwise - is simply "part of the experience". Got chopped from an enemy because you were stuck between the wall and a rogue piece of pottery? That's Dark Souls. An enemy's swipe glitch out and caught up to where you'd previously dodged because the game decided you were 'supposed' to die? That's Dark Souls. The list goes on. However, one particular part of the first game that's remained un-patched and in its original buggy-as-hell form is Blighttown; a section where the framerate slows to a flip-book crawl, enemies swarm you in seconds and an ever-present amount of flying drones are forever closing in on you.
In short it's agonising, but don't let that get in the way of fans telling you you're only getting "the real Souls experience" if you can then come out the other side in one piece.
