9 Reasons You're WRONG About Resident Evil 6

6. Jake And Sherry's Campaign Has A Great Story

All of the campaigns are pretty solid in Resident Evil 6, but Sherry and Jake's is probably the most fleshed out, and the one that really pushed the story of the entire franchise forward.

Both heroes are the children of key series figures, with Sherry being the daughter of William Birkin and Jake being the son of villain Albert Wesker. On the one hand, this makes for some surprisingly affective drama, as the two heroes wrangle with their own heritage and escaping the shadow of their pretty sh***y parents. Watching the two overcome that baggage, and Sherry slowly bringing Jake out of his sneering emo shell and over to the side of good, is a genuinely compelling arc that's sadly suffocated in Resi 6's bloat.

On the other hand, these two characters also offered a brand new start for the franchise's narrative as a whole. They represented the new generation, heroes who had ties, and even appeared in, prior games, and could carry the brand without losing all the history of the prior releases. Chris, Leon, Jill and the like are all beloved franchise staples, but you pretty much know everything about them. With Sherry and Jake, the writers could had a blank slate.
