9 Remakes That Fixed TERRIBLE Parts Of Video Games

6. Dead Space - Replacing The Turret Sequence

2008's Dead Space is one of those cult classic horror games for those who played it back in the day. Its atmosphere, suspense and gruelling difficulty helped ship over a million copies and win multiple Game of the Year awards, eventually helping to bring about Motive Studio's remake in 2023.

And this remake really did a stellar job, rebuilding Isaac Clarke's first adventure with next-gen graphic overhauls, including volumetric and dynamic lighting with the Frostbite Engine. However, it was one of the fixes to one of the gameplay features that really stole the show.

One of the most frustrating mechanics in the original Dead Space comes in Chapter 4: Obliteration Imminent, where players are tasked with repairing the U.S.G. Ishimura's ADS cannons and using them to destroy falling debris barreling towards them.

This minigame of sorts was notoriously difficult to control and the guns were easy to overheat, which made it a far more infuriating challenge than it had any right to be. Thankfully, Motive Studio reworked the entire sequence so that players no longer have to worry about this finicky mechanic, and could instead attach the cannons as an extension of their tools, to fire on the asteroids that way.

It's honestly a far more natural-feeling way of operating things and was even extended to the game's second Leviathan boss fight by the Communication's Array.
