9 Remakes That Fixed TERRIBLE Parts Of Video Games
3. The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Adding Map Markers
1993's Link's Awakening is one of the best entries in the Zelda franchise, and its 2019 remake for the Nintendo Switch gave it the next-gen facelift it deserved.
The remake brought with it a fresh retro-modern art style, with 3D graphics now on a widescreen ratio. Mini-games were revamped with improved mechanics and customisable dungeons were added alongside a time attack mode to give Link's Awakening a faithful feel, but one that came with more replayability value than the original.
There were a few technical bugs around the game's frame rate that wound some players up, but overall it was a superb entry.
However, one feature introduced in the remake that really helped it stand out from the original is map markers. There's an awful lot of backtracking involved with Link's Awakening, and there's nothing more infuriating than coming across a random secret and realising you don't have the right equipment.
The markers introduced in the 2019 remake are fairly simplistic, giving players the option of placing up to 30 different ones. There are eight different icons to choose from, and they go a long way in making the whole experience much less painstaking than before.
