2. Squall Actually Dies - Final Fantasy VIII

The Theory

Another Final Fantasy theory suggests that Squall Leonhart - the protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII - actually dies at the end of disc one when he's stabbed by Edea's ice spear and the rest of the game's story is in fact just his dying dream.

The Rejection

Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the Final Fantasy series laughed this one off, which is not all that surprising:

“No, that is not true. I think he was actually stabbed around the shoulder area, so he was not dead. But that is a very interesting idea, so if we ever do make a remake of Final Fantasy VIII, I might go along with that story in mind.”

So, it's not a fact now, but maybe we'll get to see it in future? Then again, imagine the outrage if they messed with the game that much for a remake...
