9 Video Game Pre-Orders That Broke Everything
7. The Game-Breaking Pre-Order Ship - No Man’s Sky
When we talk about bonuses breaking the game on this list we’re mostly talking about making you too overpowered. Not in this entry, though, this ship actually broke No Man’s Sky.
Hesitant as I am to continue dumping on No Man’s Sky, this was such an oversight we can’t ignore it. Cast your mind back to 2016 and you might remember sitting down with No Man’s Sky for the first time and taking on the beginning challenges that involve obtaining a blueprint for a hyperdrive to warp your ship around, and building new warp cells to charge said hyperdrive. It’s the early game gating system designed to teach you the space travel fundamentals and it’s pretty important. Of course, you’d have been forgiven for missing out on that entirely if you got the Alpha Vector ship with your pre-order that already has a hyperdrive meaning you could have just ignored picking up the hyperdrive or antimatter blueprints thereby actually preventing you from moving forward in the game.
As if No Man’s Sky needed more things to have gone wrong with its launch. Oh well, at least by all accounts it’s a much better game now.
