What You Wanted: The Legend of Zelda.

So you’ve just seen how good The Legend of Zelda looks, plays, and well, is an actual legend on every conceivable level, and you’re asking yourself:

How do I get to link up with Link and have a grand old time? Well you don’t you idiot, because you’ve bought the Sega Master System instead of the NES.

Well, not to worry, because Sega knew what they were doing with this game, as despite not having the same charm as the Nintendo-owned monolith, there’s still a lot to love with Golden Axe Warrior.

For example in a side by side comparison, the graphics were a significant step-up in quality, there were more items and weapons than in Zelda’s and it even had features that were ahead of the curve, such as in game towns. In a rather strange way Golden Axe Warrior actually looks like a more direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda than that franchises actual second outing. It was ambitious and quirky and while it might not have had that signature musical sting, certainly was no slouch when it game to gameplay.
