9 Ways Resident Evil 7 Is Already Better Than 6

7. Guns & Ammo Matter Again

Two words that tend to split rooms of survival horror fans: "Ammo conservation".

On the one hand, having to pick and choose precisely where each and every last bullet will land makes for an incredibly engaging and intense experience, but on the other, there's nothing worse than running out of ammo and literally just having to surrender to whatever horror is chasing you down.

Personally, I think Shinji Mikami's The Evil Within totally nailed this aspect, balancing ammo drops to ensure you just made it out of any given scenario in one piece, and it's something RE 7 looks to be taking to heart.

Confirming the game will have a greater focus on healing/items and will only dole out a firearm to instil some remote sense of confidence every now and then, Director Koushi Nakanishi put an emphasis on "getting back to basics" and not being an "advanced fighter", likening that what Chris Redfield turned into was essentially a "comic book hero."

Honestly, it's music to fans' ears, as there's simply no threat whatsoever when you can dump an entire clip into a threat, before roundhouse kicking it into oblivion.
