That sour taste that lingered across the first half of the year came entirely from The Order's utterly disappointing release after such a buildup towards release. Everything from the phoned-in plot, 'boss battles' that were literally copied and pasted, barely any weapon variety, reliance on cutscenes and quick time events - and an advertising campaign that made it all seem like a thrill-ride action flick, compounded when the final product was as enjoyable as a monday morning hangover. And the length, well. The length of the whole thing amounted to about five hours, if you were being generous. Minus the cutscenes - some of which the game classed as entire chapters in its story - you were getting something like an hour or two of game time, if that. Hopefully Ready at Dawn can prove themselves with a future release, as their PSP God of War games were fantastic little romps through an established canon, and as their debut home console game, The Order is surely only a fraction of what they're actually capable of.
