After Skyrim: 10 Awesome Predictions for the Future of the Elder Scrolls Series

8. More Skills

You€™re probably already satisfied with the range of skills in Skyrim and so you should be. There were a total of 18 skills on offer, all of which you would advance in should you perform the appropriate in-world actions. However, returning Elder Scrolls players will note that this is largely the exact same set of skills we€™ve had access to in Oblivion, and before it Morrowind. I€™m not suggesting for a moment that this made Skyrim a bad game (in fact, with its inclusion of a perk system, the same old skills were actually given further depth and mileage); I€™m simply suggesting that, again, should Bethesda Softworks wish to remain ahead of the curve, hopefully they€™ll consider elaborating on their current skill trees. One example would be Climbing which was a feature the original handful of Elder Scrolls games. This allows us to more successfully scale those pesky mountains. How about Musicianship, which would effectively create a brand new class; the Bard? Maybe even a Dodge skill, which would allow us to, instead of simply absorbing blows with our armour or shields, gave us the ability to activate rapid quick-time events during combat, allowing us to effectively side-step enemy blows. That's right. Like Batman. There are plenty of possible new skills; I bet you could think of a dozen. With a bit of nouse and a bit of a shakeup Bethesda could change the whole game again.
