Agents Of Mayhem Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs
2. Some Of The Agents Are Awesome
Annoyingly, Agents of Mayhem ends up giving you three characters at the beginning that are the worst of the bunch.
Following the introductory scenes with Hollywood, Hardtack and Fortune ('machine gun n' grenades', 'shotgun' and 'twin pistols', respectively), you'll then unlock everyone from the turret-dropping Joule to the auto-locking Johnny Gat, archer Rama or freeze gun-equipped Yeti.
All of the supplementary heroes come with their own mission, cartoon intro and solid narrative setup - Rama in particular stands out as she's searching for a cure that'll solve an epidemic in her home village, and Yeti upends the expectations of his stature by being a keen chess player and tactician.
It's here where that Saints Row-like charm and lovability comes through, and building a squad from a team of people you actually care about highlights what Agents of Mayhem does well - and could've done better.
