Aliens: Colonial Marines: 10 Reasons It Sucks

1. Short Campaign

It's a depressing reality of contemporary gaming that unless you're playing an RPG, few games tend to run longer than around 8 hours. This is especially true of the FPS genre, with Call of Duty's major success making it conscionable for campaigns to run in at a mere 4 or 5 hours. Well, Colonial Marines isn't quite that bad, but it's not far off; realistically, the campaign will take average players around 6 or 7 hours, and skilled FPS vets probably a little less. Is this really sufficient for a £35 price tag? Especially given that the multiplayer is mostly superfluous. It would be a lie to say that the game ends when it just gets going because, frankly, it never really does. I suppose in one sense you should be glad it's not a longer method of torture, but then again, somewhere, some developer could have made a rivetting 10-12 hour campaign out of this property. Shame. Have you played Colonial Marines yet? What do you make of it? Let us know in the comments below.
