Anthem: 10 Major Fixes It Desperately Needs
2. Release Free Story DLC With More Varied Missions
There's virtually no denying that Anthem's campaign was a gigantic disappointment. From the generic story to the forgettable characters and overwhelmingly bland, formulaic mission variety (or lack thereof), the 12-hour campaign was a bore which embodied so many problematic aspects of modern AAA game development.
While there's no chance that BioWare will significantly overhaul these elements, they could appease players by getting to work on a free story update which includes a new mini-campaign of, say, 5 or 6 hours.
This campaign would focus on telling a simple but charming story with likeable characters, but most importantly, it could remedy the game's awful ending and deliver a more dynamic array of mission types.
Where are the missions which really push players to make the most of their flight and combo abilities? These should be no-brainers in a game with flying and combat this damn good, to say nothing of regular shoot 'em up missions which at least amount to more than "fly to waypoint, press button, kill waves of aliens."
This is the most soulless aspect of Anthem and also one which could at least be partially remedied, but given the dev time it would take, you absolutely shouldn't expect it (at least not without EA charging for it).
