Anthem: 10 MASSIVE Fan Complaints Bioware Can't Ignore
8. Short, Repetitive Missions
Whether it's Destiny, The Division or Anthem, looter shooters need well-designed, fun missions that aren't a chore to do time and again to get better loot. That's why players love long raids, with the clear time for Destiny's Forsaken mission taking 18 hours when it first dropped.
Somehow, Bioware didn't get the message. Anthem doesn't have any long missions that keep players engaged for any length of time. In fact, many missions in Anthem can be completed in 10 minutes or less. The worst scenario of this was the mission Arcanist Ruins, which could be completed in less than five minutes, but to actually play the quest you had to sit through five minutes of loading screens.
The missions are short, which makes them easy to repeat, but why would you want to? Each one just sees you fly from A to B, kill enemies, then be shipped back to Fort Tarsis. Sure, you could argue that's the structure of most gaming quests, but there are no layers to the gameplay, no depth for players to dive into. Bioware's first big expansion coming in May needs to include longer, more diverse missions and rewards worth playing for.
