Anthem: 10 MASSIVE Fan Complaints Bioware Can't Ignore
7. Inability To Equip Gear In-Game
This is one of several issues within Anthem that's just downright bizarre. For a developer as storied and talented as Bioware, how such quality-of-life issues seemingly flew under-the-radar is beyond us.
In pretty much every single game, players can equip gear as and when they please. In Bioware's latest though, you have to haul back to Fort Tarsis to equip your weapons.
So, say you find a new gun during a mission, you cannot equip that weapon and test it out instantly. Instead, you have to go back to Fort Tarsis via a loading screen, then equip the weapon after another load screen, and then head back out into Fort Taris and the overworld... via more loading screens.
This is a super strange and annoying oversight, especially when you consider that all of Anthem's looter-shooter peers do it the other way around. In a game that is hinged upon its loot system, you'd think you'd be able to use said loot without unnecessary barriers.
Part of the problem here extends to a much bigger issue that plagues the whole game; developer/gamer disconnect. It feels like Bioware made Anthem in a vacuum, unaware that other such games had been made - and made significantly better.
