Anthem: 10 MASSIVE Fan Complaints Bioware Can't Ignore
5. Botched Weapons
There's a fair few problems in regards to the weapons and loot in Anthem. From the fact that the majority of them just look the same, to the fact that they all do comparable damage, negating any desire to grind for the best gear. And let's not glance over that first point; weapons in looter-shooters are everything, and yet the guns in Anthem are incredibly uninspired and boring. In fact, many of them look the exact same, with a colour swap at best.
Then there's the weapon stacking and crafting. The idea behind this is simple: if you craft a Mastwerwork weapon, it should be stronger than the base one. However, it genuinely seems like all of the weapon damage and stacking in the game is randomised. Hence why a Masterwork Assault Rifle does less damage than the base level one, and so on. Not that actually equipping such weapons and stacking their stats actually matters, because, again, the damage is randomised.
As you'll have grasped by now, it's downright baffling just how Bioware made such ill-sighted decisions in a game that is entirely based around grinding for new gear and equipping said gear. That would be like if a director set about making a black and white noir movie and filmed it in colour.
