Anthem: 10 MASSIVE Fan Complaints Bioware Can't Ignore
4. Lack Of Character Customisation
Now this is something that Anthem didn't get a lot of flak for in reviews, but it perfectly encapsulates the dishonest marketing, and the game's unfinished feeling.
Prior to launch, Bioware released many developer diary videos that showed off Anthem's in-game systems and such. Javelin customisation was a huge part of this, as the devs detailed the four Javelin types;: Ranger, Interceptor, Storm, and Colossus. The first three look pretty much the same, while the latter is like a Hulkbuster suit. That's fine, because players can customise the Javelins endlessly...right?
Wrong. In Bioware's dev diary, we saw lots of different customisation options, like upwards of ten helmets, arm and torso variations, etc. In the final release, there's actually only two of each. Unless of course you buy a couple more with real money, but even then there's not as many as there were in the dev diaries.
This results in a game where you pretty much play from start to finish with the same boring Javelin. Which looks basically identical to everyone else's boring Javelin. At best this was horribly uninspired and lazy, at worst it's deceitful marketing and a cheap way to earn money down the line. You choose, Bioware.
