Assassin's Creed Origins: 10 Past Mistakes Ubisoft Can't Repeat
6. No More Mini Games
It's almost become a meme by now how much fluff and filler is packed into every new Ubisoft open world game. Not a problem that's exclusive to Assassin's Creed, the developer's decision to cram their releases full of random mini-games and activities that players never use is becoming a real issue, and is obscuring the actually good content in the games.
The previous AC titles had this in droves too, distracting players away from the well-crafted missions to try out pointless side activities. It could be argued that they're only harmless, throwaway little features, but the dev time that went into implementing these mini-games could have been used to work on literally anything else.
Because despite how inconsequential they are, these mini-missions do hurt the game, as they obfuscate the enjoyable parts of the title and pose a real issue for players attempting to achieve 100% completion.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should, and Assassin's Creed Origins needs to show some restraint if it wants to create a selection of missions and activities that players will actually enjoy come release day.
