Assassin's Creed Origins: 10 Past Mistakes Ubisoft Can't Repeat

2. More Focused Missions With Fewer Cutscenes

One of the reasons Assassin's Creed games are so forgettable comes from very rarely having standout missions.

95% of the quests in previous titles allowed the player to tackle them however they wanted, but that freedom resulted in repetitive objectives that were constantly played out over similar looking locations for the whole game. They might not have been bad in and of themselves, but there was never anything that elevated them above being merely 'good enough'.

Going forward the series would actually benefit from making its missions more focused and directed, and if that means less content overall, then so be it.

Likewise, it's always been frustrating that the coolest moments in the franchise are played out in cutscenes. Instead of constantly taking the control away from the player, Origins needs to be focused on letting them live out epic moments themselves, and actually get them involved in set pieces and focused action beats.
