Assassin's Creed Origins Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs
1. Bugs, Animation Glitches, Frame Rate Hiccups - Lack Of Polish All Round
By far the most immediate negative comes from Origins still falls short of being a quality product through and through, despite being in development for three years, and taking one year away from the public eye to focus on precisely how to return in style.
Sound effects will miss their cue during attack animations, conversations sometimes have notable pauses between characters talking to one another, faces barely animate or convey the wrong emotion at key times, text will get frozen on-screen, and that's before you get to the wider world stuff.
Floating NPCs, flying boats, frame rate stutters, gliding camels, hovering market stalls and other pedestrians locked to treading the same square of turf over and over - it's immediately noticeable, and once again indicative of Ubisoft's corporate mentality not allowing the requisite time to polish everything before launch.
Of course these things will be patched out as the coding department continues to work tirelessly to fix the issues thousands of us will be yelling about, but just know that if you're buying AC Origins now, expect a pretty bumpy ride.
