Assassin’s Creed: 5 Must-Plays & 5 That Suck

5. Must Play: Origins

Assassin's Creed Unity
Ubisoft

One word: beautiful.

At the time of its release, Origins had the unfortunate task of shining a new light on a series that for many had become stagnated. Each entry, while enjoyable, offered nothing groundbreaking or innovative to the point of standing out from the pack.

What makes Origins a must play is that beyond it's stunning set-pieces, gorgeous character models, wealth of Egyptian folk tales and charming titular character, it showcases Ubisoft's ability to deliver an open world that feels alive. It's gigantic map allows players to explore the vast majority of areas early on in the game, and the rewards seem fair enough to encourage you to keep coming back for more.

Opting to flesh out the opening times of the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Origins serves as a title that you must add to your list of Assassins games to complete.

Utilising the now infamous Ubisoft levelling-up RPG system, you can build your character in your own way for large parts - with some fabulous kicks, attacks, weapons and kill methods at your disposal.

While sections can become repetitive, the majority of the game is spent battling mythical monsters and enemies spoken of in spooky Egyptian folk lore, which is nothing if not engaging.
