Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate - 10 Crucial Things It Must Learn From Unity
9. Combat That Makes You Feel Empowered
In any stealth-focussed game, there should always be a penalty for getting spotted or engaging in a ruckus - otherwise what's the point? What we've seen over the years though, is the developers moving further and further away from that idea, culminating in AC III where with the push of a button you could fell entire platoons of guards in a blur of blades and muffled screams - all at the push of a button In a way though, that's how the best assassin's should be - shadow-stalking panther-esque slinkers of the night, using cunning to their advantage at all times but forever capable of defending themselves should the need arise for anything more up-close and personal. The only way to balance this is by metering your stamina or introducing a rigid score/unlock system that encourages stealthier play. Either way, something has to happen that actually reinforces the name of the franchise, as with the footage available showing a focus on brawling and fisticuffs, it's painting a very different picture from the disciplined disciples of the original Creed.
