Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate - 10 Crucial Things It Must Learn From Unity

8. Fun And Innovative Traversal Mechanics

A Batman-style grappling hook? Sounds good, what else you got? Oh, you haven't? Well that's cool, let's work with that, it sure does look capable of zipping me up and around the city in one swift animation, right? As long as the collision detection doesn't get me killed trying to activate it. Unity's addition to your main arsenal of rooftop-leaping acrobatics was to include a dedicated button for descending. A cool idea in theory, it was instead marred completely by the camera forever not knowing where you go when you disappeared off the front of somewhere, not to mention never really knowing how much control you had over the 'autopilot'-feeling animations. This time round Ubi have been watching Arkham City's advancement of that series' core gameplay, and although so far in action we've seen the grapple be used to bypass clambering up walls one hand at a time and creating makeshift zip-wires, hopefully there are upgrades to let you swing between multiple city blocks, Spider-Man style over the course of the game.
