Assassin's Creed Unity: 5 Things We Can Expect To See

3. The Storming Of The Bastille

At some point in Unity, the protagonist assassin will either be in the crowd storming the Bastille, or in the Bastille escaping, that much has to be a good bet. The actual event occurred on 14 July 1789 €“ and for such a major and notorious event to take place so close to the game's timeframe and not be included would be an utterly ludicrous suggestion. It simply has to be in the game, and if it isn't then the writers at Ubisoft have lost their minds, but given that the signing of the Declaration of Independence was in AC3, then the storming of the Bastille will be in Unity, so important are both events to their respective timelines. The first appearance of the tricolour ribbons worn on the hats of the National Guard must make an appearance in any Bastille setting. That red, white and blue combination went on to be the symbol of the country, and more immediately the actual Revolution. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising at all to see the main character sporting one. Of course, you have to hope that Ubisoft has done its research for this; any gamer expecting a scene where hundreds of prisoners escape is going to be sorely disappointed €“ at the time it was stormed, there were just seven people incarcerated there. But the Bastille was a symbol, and its fall brought people to the Revolution's cause €“ an integral event to be seen in Unity.
