Assassin's Creed V: 5 Things We Know So Far

3. The Release Date

Ubisoft have publicly stated that they are releasing five games between April 2014 and March 2015. Thus far we know of three of those, The Crew, Watch Dogs and a new Just Dance game. So this would make Assassin's Creed 5 one of the remaining two. But when exactly is it going to be released, or at least when will the release date be announced? What we know is that the aim is to release a game a year, and pretty much we can expect to see AC5 come out around Halloween/early November. If Ubisoft is aiming for a game a year, and they want to compare each AC game with sales like for like then they'll simply release it at the same time. Assassin's Creed 3 was released on October 30, 2012 while Assassin's Creed 4 came out on October 29, 2014. So an end of October release is almost certain. But when are they going to announce that? Well, we can't base this on the announcement for Assassin's Creed 4 as that was obviously brought forward because of leaked information. The first trailer was released to the public on March 4, 2013, so based on that we would already have seen the new trailer if that timetable was strictly followed. We can't compare the announcement to Assassin's Creed III either as this was also announced with a trailer in early March. So it just seems unusual that nothing has yet been announced for AC5 yet. So what could be causing the delay? Well we can see that Ubisoft already are. The reveal of the pair coordinates via social media and the ongoing stuff with the Assassin's Creed: Initiates could mean that Ubisoft are very carefully teasing fans with ideas for the new game. They already know when they're publishing the name of the game and all the details and we just have to wait until then. One main thing that could be making them hold off the announcement is that if the title gives far too much away €“ because when they said "Black Flag" the fans immediately read it as a pirate game in the Caribbean. Now that the final version of AC4 has been released, we can assure you that we're certainly counting down until the announcement.
