Assassin's Creed: Victory - 10 Things It Must Learn From Black Flag

2. Outside The Animus

You don€™t know what you€™ve got until it€™s gone. The side-story (which was actually the main story?) based outside the animus started to become a source of boredom amongst some fans of the series, although most of the negativity does fall somewhat on the dull Desmond Miles€™ shoulders. However, when it was completely taken away in Unity, some were left feeling disgruntled at the lack of a break from the older settings. It must be said that although the side-story wasn€™t ever going to be strong enough to carry and entire game on it€™s own (not the way they were going with the crazy sci-fi aspects anyway), it always delivered a nice change of pace and helped to explain the importance of the machine itself whilst actually being quite fun. Well done, dull ol' Desmond, it would appear you didn't completely fail. Black Flag proved that a side story that doesn't involve Desmond's tale could still be relevant to the Templars and also be a fun chapter in the narrative, offering a different environment and gameplay such as hacking computers and memos etc. AC Victory should bring back this element of the world with a new creative spin, much like Black Flag€™s Abstergo Entertainment plot-twist that already gives Ubisoft a huge amount of options going forward.

Probably the only person to not like Halo. Media studies student at Newcastle University, who is 'dangerously' sarcastic and borderline annoying. Enjoy!
