Assassin's Creed: Victory Wishlist - 10 Things Fans Demand

7. A Reason To Fight

Y'know which AC hero has one of the most interesting drive to their story? Adewale. Who? Exactly. Star of AC: Black Flag's standalone pack Freedom Cry, Ubisoft dove into the slave trade of the 18th Century, tasking you with freeing the oppressed whilst delivering sweet, steely justice to those behind the whips and chains. Aside from possibly Ezio's motivation to get started in AC II, this provided a very simple "Go kill the people who deserve it" narrative beat that was otherwise missing from Black Flag's (admittedly fun) 'evil pirate' shtick, and was all the better for it. Unity had Arno seemingly becoming an assassin overnight thanks to sharing a cell with one, and it's something indicative of the previous point too - AC needs their heroes to be up to speed on the latest hidden blade-dealing tactics out there from where the last game left off, and so far Ubisoft have ended up taking the convenience route over some much needed innovation.
