Without Bruce Wayne, who will step up to don the cowl? It's not like we're hurting for options. Let's run down the list really quickly. There's Dick Grayson, the first Robin and current Nightwing (who has worn the cowl in the comics). Tim Drake, current Robin and apparent husband to Barbara Gordon. Jason Todd, the presumed-dead Robin who was later revealed to be the Arkham Knight and now works as the Red Hood.

Oh, and Michael Lane, the current Azrael who, depending on your game choices, is either rotting in a cell or is seeking out a new path.

So who will become the new Batman? Why not all four?

As mentioned before, fans have long wanted character-switching within the game. The challenge maps involving the side characters have proven to be pretty popular, as each of them has their own gadgets and their own fighting style.

When DC supposedly killed off Bruce Wayne a few years back, there was a crossover called Battle For The Cowl that showed various characters vying for the position of the new Batman. That series would be the basis for this game.

Beyond movement styles, there are other ways in which the game could vary things depending on your character. Robin's more cerebral, so you might see him using more gadgets, handling puzzles, and investigating crimes. Red Hood and Azrael are much more physical (and far more brutal), so they'd get the edge in combat. And Nightwing is the most acrobatic, so there could be challenges or puzzles involving physical feats that he'd get the edge with.
