Batman: Arkham - 10 Rumours About The Future Of Rocksteady You Need To Know
6. Knightmare
Of course, everyone who played Arkham Knight to 100% completion to get the additional ending had the exact same question - what the hell was that thing at the end?!
For those who haven't seen it, the ending features some criminals mugging a family (extremely reminiscent of what happened to the Waynes) and then they see a Batman-like figure standing on the roof. But instead of the usual swooping down, this Batman seems to rise up on a cloud of smoke, then transforms into some kind of fiery demon.
That's a pretty big question mark on the end of the game, and there's been a lot of fan speculation about it. Was it Bruce Wayne or maybe Jason Todd using the Scarecrow's fear toxin? Was it something supernatural? In one alternate reality, Damian Wayne (son of Bruce and Talia) became a harsher Batman and possessed some kind of supernatural abilities, so perhaps that?
Leaving the series so open-ended like made fans feel a bit short-changed, to be honest. So, while Rocksteady may not be making another Batman game in the same vein as the Arkham series, a game featuring this Knightmare Batman would definitely give them the opportunity to change things up.
What sort of new abilities might this Batman have? If he is using the fear toxin, how would that work in battle? All could make for interesting possibilities.
