Batman: Arkham City 2: 10 Reasons It Will Be Better Than The Prequel

7. The Silver Age Is A Big Tonal Change

Batman & Robin Silver Age The "stylised" prequel that is being worked on by Rocksteady is reportedly set in during the Silver Age of Batman. In the comic books, made during the 1960s, many of the stories contained science fiction themes, with space settings and alien characters becoming more and more important. If the prequel is going to be set in this era, then it is likely that these types of themes will make their way into the game. While this does sound pretty cool in its own way, it is a major tonal change from the Arkham games that, whilst they included characters like Killer Croc, who is basically a giant talking crocodile, and Soloman Grundy, a man who can never die, were in many ways realistic. Taking Batman from the gritty world of the Arkham universe and taking him to a place where aliens and space monsters exist is a big change - one that many fans (a lot of whom would have also enjoyed the ultra-gritty, serious world of the Christopher Nolan Batman film triology) might not appreciate.
