Batman Arkham City Sequel: 6 Ways Rocksteady Can Evolve Gameplay

1. Re-Imagining Arkham City In A Different Light

Rocksteady has already proved that they can not only create an amazingly detailed Gotham environment, but also that they are capable of dropping Batman into an open world and create gaming magic. Arkham City presented the idea that different territories would be owned and operated by individual gangs and their bosses such as: the Joker, Penguin, or Two-Face. Imagine this concept being implemented into a map three times the size of Arkham City, or bigger. Players could approach the game with the same basic format of Arkham City where side-missions were lying in wait, but also know exactly who's turf they were on. If you're searching for an informant who's a known associate of Two-Face, well then you'd know exactly which streets of Gotham to patrol. Yet, something would need to evolve. It couldn't just be a repeat of the foundation they laid with the previous installment. This is where the idea of dynamic crime events comes into play. With Gotham City open for your enjoyment players would be able to not only investigate a pre-set number of side missions and story missions, but also have randomly generated events. These could range from sneaking into a store and stopping a hostage situation, chasing down suspects from the rooftops, or even assisting the GCPD in criminal investigations. Batman patrols the streets, gliding through the buildings and grappling across the rooftops. Then, you pause. Drawing out your Cryptographic Sequencer you scan the radio frequency for crimes in progress. Pin-pointing an armed robbery, you quickly glide through the streets to your destination. What was supposed to be a quick robbery has turned ugly, the crooks are held up inside, and Gordon has surrounded the building with multiple squad cars. A quick exchange with the Commissioner leads to Batman infiltrating the building stealthily, and taking out each robber undetected. No surprises there right? C'mon, that's what Batman does best. Yet, what if you arrive on the scene, and the crooks have already blown the joint? Well, that's why Rocksteady should implement a full on Detective Mode. Click €œnext€ below to read on€
