Batman: Arkham Insurgency - 9 Things It Must Learn From City
5. Don't Find An Excuse For The City To Be Deserted
Despite being a superhero, Batman was rarely ever seen actually saving people in the Arkham trilogy. Because of the way the games were structured, with civilians always being conveniently evacuated, it meant that players never had to worry about hapless bystanders getting in the way of their crime fighting.
But it was the second title's excuse to lock Bats in with a city full of thugs that felt the most contrived. Sectioning off a part of Gotham to become an expanded Akrham Asylum, it didn't quite make sense in the world of the game for all of the people living there to be relocated or missing.
Going forward, there's no doubt that the developers will once again be putting Gotham City in danger, but this time they should let the players see what happens when civilians get caught in the middle of superhero showdowns.
Batman needs to feel like an actual superhero rather someone who just gets off on breaking the ribs of criminals, and having him interact with innocent bystanders could be a way of achieving that.
