Batman: Arkham Knight - 10 Insane Moments You Need To Play
3. Real Emotion Over Oracle
If Poison Ivy's apparent demise has just a hint of regret for Batman, the death of Barbara Gordon is one of the most emotional moments in the entire 'Arkham' franchise to date. Secretly, away from the eyes of her father (Commissioner Gordon), Barbara is known as 'Oracle', a tech wizard who helps Batman from the safety of her wheelchair.
Kidnapped by the Arkham Knight, Oracle then finds herself locked in a gas chamber by Scarecrow, who attempts to use his fear toxin to warp her mind. Shooting herself and taking her own life, Barbara's death has Batman falling to his knees, and the player is almost right there with him.
There's a weird sense of detachment once Oracle passes on, and the game noticeably takes a darker turn (which is saying something) once the story develops in this fashion. Ravaged by guilt over not being able to save Barbara, Batman seems to have a harder edge to him going forward, something which only makes the game resonate more. This is an insane moment which lives long in the memory.
