Batman: Arkham Knight - 10 Key Steps To Guarantee It's 2014 Game Of The Year

5. One On One Boss Fights

The Arkham franchise has usually had a habit of teasing a one-on-one confrontation with a revered villain, only to dance around the proposed battle, instead giving players a battle against hordes of generic thugs. This is actually something that Arkham Origins corrected for the most part with memorable encounters from Deathstroke to Bane, but was soured due to the game's unfortunate butchering of the combat system. Arkham City had some highlights here with a Mr. Freeze battle and a few others, but isn't it time that we got a one-on-one confrontation with Harley Quinn or Two-Face? Something deeply rooted within the combat mechanics? It would be a hell of a lot more interesting than beating up on the same thugs players are tasked with fighting throughout the course of the game, instead of pulling off an interactive QTE on the villain you wish you were fighting toe to toe. If Arkham Knight goes the route of putting characters like Two-Face and Hush at the forefront, the doors are opened for some creative fights. As for Scarecrow; he's a different case altogether and should have his fights treated similarly to the encounters in Arkham Asylum. No need to fix what isn't broke regarding that scenario.
