Batman: Arkham Knight - 10 Killer Ways To Resurrect The Joker

9. Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself

Scarecrow is coming back. The beginning of the Arkham Knight trailer alludes to it and the Easter eggs in Arkham City pretty much laid the foundation for this terrifying villain's re-emergence. Following in the same vein as The Mad Hatter, The Scarecrow could drum up The Joker's return, but with a slightly darker twist than what Hatter is capable of. Batman does not condone taking the life of another. That's always been one of his most enduring qualities as a hero. Yet despite his greatest efforts, he failed in saving his greatest enemy's life in Arkham City. Perhaps The Scarecrow makes Batman relive that awful moment when Batman failed? Perhaps The Scarecrow makes Batman come face-to-face with The Joker, who chastises the bat for failing to save him and for causing his death? Perhaps this all could lead to Scarecrow's attempt at breaking down Batman's do-gooder mentality and hoping to get the Dark Knight to admit that he wanted The Joker to die? It's a very serious turn and gritty message to be sure, but if any company is able to pull it off, it's Rocksteady. It would, ideally, be something everyone playing the game could relate to... you wish for the death of someone like The Joker because you think the world will be a safer place, but then you find out that's not the case and you've darkened yourself just a little bit by even thinking that way. Or, hell, Scarecrow could just force Batman to face a never-ending wave of Joker villains! With the power of the next-gen systems, and looking at how many attires Joker had in Injustice: Gods Among Us, could you imagine Batman beating down "Death in the Family" Joker, "Killing Joke" Joker, or even 1960s Joker, Red Hood, and a Christopher Nolan Joker?
