Batman: Arkham Knight - 8 Reasons The Joker Should Stay Dead

1. Rocksteady Should Live With Their Artistic Decision

In the moment, Rocksteady was undoubtedly excited that they were being given the creative freedom to kill off The Joker, and rightfully so. Very rarely are licensed games even good, let alone do they contain very bold creative decisions that pave the way for timeless moments. And so, Arkham City isn€™t just known as a magnificent license game, but the game that had the gall to kill The Joker. If Rocksteady were to undo all of that by bringing him back from the dead, it would honestly be perceived as a spit in the face to the fanbase. Nobody likes a copout, and resurrecting The Joker just because Rocksteady wants to or because his inclusion could guarantee more sales would be the definition of doing so. Whether the narrative is open to proceed on with something special or if it's backed into a corner is up to Rocksteady to decide, but they are the ones that put themselves in this situation. And the best way to deal with this situation - not just for the game but Rocksteady as a development studio - is to make the best out of their past decisions. They will be much more respected if they stick to their word and make a death meaningful by not going back on killing off a major character. Furthermore, sticking to their guns like that would build character as a development studio, sending a message that they don't toy around with the emotions of their loyal fans.
