3. The 'Exclusive Look' Videos Aren't Fooling Anybody
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS5F5WMhP9Q Any intrepid Arkham series fan will know Dax Ginn, the lovably happy motormouth who presents the behind-the-scenes videos for the development of Knight and the past titles in the series. You can't fault the guy for trying his best to salvage the content given to him, but when last month's video dropped and he was tasked with selling the idea of both the cartoonish 1989 racetrack and one challenge map being anything other than a cop-out, it really started to feel like you were having the wool slowly stitched over your eyes. Thanks to the mobile gaming scene taking off as much as it has and proving the average consumer will happily shell out additional cash for DLC packs or micro-transaction currencies, it's led to the standard model of 'Full retail price-equals-full game' being shattered. We're increasingly seeing games sold with these practices firmly in place, the latest being Metal Gear Solid V's option to purchase 'Diamond Dog coins' for upwards of £70. However, it's when you look at Rocksteady's post-launch offerings where watching the team try their best to re-sell content that's only been siphoned off by their publisher overlords in the first place, that the whole thing just feels disingenuous.
