Batman: Arkham Knight - Everything We Know So Far

1. Previous Gen? Next Gen?

It is disappointment for previous generation console owners, as Arkham Knight is set to be released exclusively for next-gen consoles in an attempt to squeeze out as much performance from the new machines while also eliminating the need to compromise gameplay elements to suit the older hardware. While this may be seen as slightly bewildering considering the success of the series on previous consoles the need for the developers to push themselves as well as the series as far as it can go is the priority here. The trouble developers are in right now is that we are in limbo between previous and next gen, meaning that cross-generation games inevitably compromise their potentia as time and resources are spent honing features on outdated tech. It's clear Rocksteady have made the decision to push the Xbox One and PS4 as far as they possibly can, but there may be other reasons why they have made this decision. As far as next gen consoles go, there hasn't really been a killer title for either system six months after their respective release. One could argue that Titanfall, released in March 2014, was the first 'real' next-gen game based on pre-release hype, however many have commented upon the lack of gaming titles available to Xbox One/PS4 thus far and therefore it makes sense that this final instalment be an exclusive. It's an understandable decision as it will inevitably sell by the bucket-load and those who are sitting on the fence may finally have an excuse to splash out when Arkham Knight is released on October 14th 2014. Is there anything we've missed from what's available so far? Let us know in the comments, and here's to E3!
