Battlefield 1: 9 Big Worries We Have After The Beta

1. Battlefield 1: Battlefront Edition

There was always bound to be some overlap between Star Was Battlefront and Battlefield 1, as besides the obvious that both games were crafted by the same developer, each runs on DICE's Frostbite engine.

That being the case, it's not at all surprising that DICE has decided to reuse various different texture assets and character skins for the latter. After all, what would be the point of making new sand and rock textures for Sinai Desert when plenty were already created for Battlefront's Jakku and Tatooine maps?

No, the worry here lies with everything else Battlefield 1 has borrowed from the galactic shooter. However inconsequential the similarities may appear to be at first glance, several generic character models have been lifted directly from Battlefront, and the user interface - along with the main menu - are almost identical.

The result has been a beta for a title that doesn't really have a heart or identity of its own. Lasers may have been replaced with bullets and lightsabers with swords, but Battlefield 1 feels very much like a game I've already spent countless hours playing since 2015.
