Battlefield 4: 10 Impressions From The Beta

4. Levolution Changes The Way You Play The Game

Levolution The first time you are in that skyscraper and you hear the rumbling under your feet your heart just stops dead, quickly followed by your character. Standing under it does you no favours either and diving in the water still doesn€™t save you - the hard truth is that a building is falling down around you, and there are no get out clauses. The game then goes from fighting in a Ziba Tower style area on the top of the skyscraper, camping elevators and scoping the area for choppers to an all out ground assault. I€™ll admit the thought of levolution initially made me cringe, not only because the word is ridiculous but because I€™m a person who loves to learn the maps, explore every nook, find out where I was shot from and see if it a viable position next time, check the high areas and the bushes. The thought of an event in the game that could or could not happen and could also happen at any time rendering my knowledge useless set me on edge, but when it happens it is glorious, the map does change, not massively but in such a way your tactics have to change too. The map knowledge will just take longer and be a lot more fun, it will be like learning two maps instead of one, which is more work but worth it to see that building fall down and decimate everything.

3. Team Work Works

Teamwork Yes, I know teamwork worked in BF3 too but they have streamlined it for BF4, having your whole squad alive and killing the enemy gives you perks like squad sprint and squad flak, if you all start dying it is only one man that can keep the hope of keeping these perks alive and if he dies you have to start all over again. It means that if your squad is a well-oiled machine you will have more perks and be more dangerous to the other team. Teamwork can take down tanks easier, take over areas and really lock down the flags. With the lack of ammo there really needs to be someone on support. The ability to lock onto any vehicle means the recon really needs to be there with their goggles and that engineers need to be there with rockets out. Obviously assault needs to be there to help their friends, revive them and heal them but this takes longer too so no more playing God and resurrecting the same dude millions of times.
