Battlefield 5: 9 Reasons Fans Should Be Worried
6. EA And Dead Products
EA is a company that wants to turn a profit. Their business practices in the past have always indicated that. Their affinity for dropping projects as soon as they no longer turn a decent amount of revenue is widely known which puts Battlefield V in hot water. At the current rate, it seems that the game may not even get a decent lifespan, at least in terms of EA putting hefty amounts of money into it. It could very much be dead out of the gate.
There is a multitude of games that have been axed simply because of their lack of monetizability. You have Visceral's Star Wars game that was cut because it had no multiplayer options and no room for things such as loot-boxes. Andromeda got support for its single player cut as soon as it was no longer disasterous.
Of course, a cash cow like Battlefield isn't going to get axed, but supporting an unprofitable game isn't EA's MO.
Though, to many people's surprise, a notable rumour centres on Battlefield V coming with a Battlefield Bad Company 2 remaster, either on launch or as post-game content.
Undoubtedly, an attempt to bolster pre-order sales, this would definitely show EA wants to make sure Battlefield V sells, but in terms of ensuring the quality of the new instalment it's damning, if anything.
