Battlefield 5: 9 Reasons Fans Should Be Worried
4. Nothing New
The first-person shooter genre has been adapting to the market over the years. The rise in popularity of Doom and Wolfenstein marks a shift in the minds of the consumer, a shift that Battlefield appears confident to ignore.
Of course, shifting the series towards the more run and gun viscera of the Doom and Wolfenstein would be a mistake, but a failure to adapt and innovate is a worrying problem.
The fact that at E3, the developers proudly announced that you could finally move artillery around as a "new feature" appears to be emblematic of their stance on innovation.
People want something new and at the moment, Battlefield V looks to simply be a piece of glorified DLC. Nothing new and nothing exceptional.
