Battlefield 6: 10 Fatal Mistakes DICE Must Avoid
6. An Episodic Campaign
Whilst the campaign is hardly the star of the show for any Battlefield game, titles like the Bad Company spin offs prove that DICE can create memorable characters and tell an engaging story when they want to.
That's hard to do in an episodic format, where players only spend five minutes with any one storyline, before moving on to something else.
And while the stories of Battlefield 1 and V boasted impressive, photorealistic visuals and a sweeping wartime score, these were wasted on forgettable characterisations and lack of any and all plot besides the cliches audiences have seen play out onscreen for decades.
This was especially noticeable in Battlefield V, which included only three (yes, that's right, THREE) missions that served more as a glorified tutorial for the multiplayer than anything else.
And again, even though no one buys Battlefield for the single player modes, they're often a welcome feature for those rainy days when none of your friends are online.
And an engaging narrative, told from the point of view of characters that at least vaguely resemble human beings, is always better than a few half-arsed standalone missions about tanks, or whatever.
