Battlefield 6: 10 Fatal Mistakes DICE Must Avoid
4. Microtransactions
Microtransactions. Nobody likes them. Even the people that buy them probably don't like them.
Unfortunately, EA and DICE are some of the main contributors to the toxicity surrounding microtransactions, with the ghastly mishandling of their previous game, Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Even more concerning, Battlefield V saw some of the most egregious microtransaction attempts in the Battlefield series, with the implementation of said features being held back until a full five months after the game's release- conveniently after the reviews and publicity had moved on.
Whilst these only allowed players to buy cosmetics, it still left a bad taste in many customers' mouths, as consumer loyalty was suddenly "rewarded" with more paywalls.
Considering DICE's shaky history with microtransactions, it's hard to see them working well in any form in Battlefield 6. Best if they found more ways to make the game fun to play, instead of adding fees to pay.
